The educator’s ally
CBET serves K-12 educators on two fronts: teaching science to students and supporting the educator’s own professional development.
Classroom partnerships:
Through CBET, K-12 teachers may bring RIT faculty into their classrooms for guest lectures and hands-on demonstrations on subjects ranging from human anatomy to biotechnology. (See Close-up: Life Lessons.) In addition, teachers may arrange field trips for students to visit the RIT campus for instruction by university faculty. Such visits enable students to use sophisticated equipment and technologies—from ultrasound machines to gene cloning kits—unavailable to most school districts.
Professional self-development:
CBET enables educators to stay at the forefront of their fields through ongoing exposure to the latest science, technology and teaching tools. Partnering with CBET, educators may:
- Create exciting new lab exercises.
- Develop cutting-edge lecture content.
- Incorporate new teaching technologies (animation, hands-on demonstrations).
- Gain continuing education credits.
