Professor make fitness his profession and passion

Dr. Will Jonen joined the RIT faculty in December of 2005, but he’s spent the last 12 years preparing for where he is right now. He earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in exercise science and also holds current certifications as a Health/Fitness and Exercise Science Instructor (H/FI) with the American College of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) certification with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition, he brings 5 years of valuable fitness industry experience as both an employee of several fitness centers and as the owner/operator of his own personal training business in New York City. His interest in researching muscle physiology, aging, and athletic performance makes him a perfect fit for CBET’s workshops in fitness and certificate program in Exercise Science.

If you attend one of Dr. Jonen’s classes or just talk to him about his work, his passion in two areas will quickly become apparent: teaching and exercise physiology. One of his students from a spring 2006 class gave the following feedback: “I can tell that he loves what he does and he has a profound interest in what he teaches. This transfers over to the students and it makes the class very enjoyable.” It is this passion that Dr. Jonen continues to pour into his work while he teaches established classes like anatomy and physiology and develops new courses, workshops and research projects in exercise physiology.
