Technical training for jobs in industry or academic research

What is it?

Basic Biotechnology Skills for Bioprocessing Operations is a 10-week certificate program that provides comprehensive education and training in many of the fundamental skills needed for entry-level laboratory technician positions with biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies as well as with academic medical research centers. Upon successful completion of this program, each graduate will earn 17-hours of academic credit that may be applied toward degree programs at RIT or other accredited universities.

Who is it for?

This certificate program is intended for individuals who have become unemployed or who have been unsuccessful in finding employment, who possess either an educational background in the biological or chemical sciences or laboratory experience gained during previous employment, and who wish to become retrained for new positions in the emerging biotechnology and the life sciences fields.

When is it offered?

We offer three or four sessions of this program each year. Click here for the next offering. The course meets every weekday from 8:30 am until about 5:00 pm. Attendance at all class activities is required.

How much will it cost?

Tuition costs for this 10-week program total $8,500. However, applicants may be eligible for a full tuition scholarship from Eastman Kodak Company. Read about Eastman Kodak press release..
