Bioscience Exploration for High Schoolers

Program Description


The RIT campus, with its expansive natural environment and the modern high-tech laboratories of the Center for Bioscience Education and Technology, will host two unique and extraordinary opportunities for High School students (entering grades 8 - 10) to enrich their education and begin their preparation for college and careers.

Living Environment Jump Start

August 11 - August 15
August 18 - August 22

Students taking Regents Living Environment during the 2008 - 09 school year will get a head start with inquiry-driven classroom, laboratory and field investigations. In addition to being introduced to essential biological concepts, participants in this one-week program will also learn key study strategies and computer skills they will find useful in the coming year. This program will be offered twice in 2008

Medical Science Program

July 21 - July 25
July 28 - August 1

Students who are thinking they might be interested in a career in a medical field will really enjoy this one-week comprehensive exploration of medicine. They will dissect and examine real human organs. They will become CPR certified, and also learn many basic diagnostic and medical lab techniques. And they will meet practitioners and discuss careers in several medical fields. This exciting program will be offered twice in 2008
